An evening in Vilnius when you are on your own

Vilnius is a walking city, with a compact Old Town, free tours every day and pubs in Užupis where one person at the bar is normal. This page covers the tours, English board games on Saturdays, pub quizzes, a table of strangers and getting home at night.
1. Dinner or drinks with people you have not met
- Socials by Detor, this site, runs in Vilnius. Four to six people who have not met share one table for dinner, drinks, coffee or brunch, in English or in Lithuanian. We pick the group from a few answers you give once, and a person checks it. We book the venue, and the address comes the day before. Nobody sees a name until the table's chat opens, an hour before, and there are no profiles. A seat is priced per session, with no membership, and everyone pays the venue for their own bill. Visitors book like anyone else. What is open this week is under "What is on this week" below and on the Vilnius page.
- Timeleft is not in Vilnius. The nearest cities on its list are in Poland.
2. What is on this week
The free tours below are posted on vilnius-events.lt. Go Vilnius, the official tourism site, has its own what's-on pages. The tours cost a tip.
In winter there is a Christmas market on the Old Town square.
3. Things with other people in them
- A free walking tour. The daily tour leaves the Town Hall steps at 11:00 and takes two to two and a half hours, paid in tips. It is listed in Lithuanian, so check the language before you go. There is also an evening Old Town tour for people who arrive in the afternoon; the start time is on the listing. FreeTour.com lists "From the '90s to Now" in English, 2h30.
- Board games in English. The Vilnius English Evening group plays party games at the Rikis shop, Šv. Stepono g. 5, on Saturdays at 16:30, for a few euros. Usually eight to ten people come.
- A Saturday run. Vingis parkrun is a free 5 km at 09:00. Register on parkrun's site first.
- Pub quizzes and language evenings. Quiz nights run at Paviljonas, Būsi trečias and Vingio istorijos. Language evenings happen at Fabrika and in cafés near Pilies street. Ask at the bar which days and which languages.
4. Where to go for an evening out
Go to the Old Town, around Pilies street, or cross the river to Užupis. In Užupis, Špunka is a relaxed microbrewery pub with a local crowd.
You can walk to all of it.
5. Practical
- Night buses: nine night routes were launched in 2025. Check the JUDU transport site for your night.
- Ask where you eat about tipping and dinner hours.
6. If you are on your own
- Take the evening tour on the day you arrive. It is meant for people who land in the afternoon.
- Choose the things that run in English: the board games, the FreeTour walk, an English table.
- Make the first move. People here tend to be quiet with strangers by temperament, not out of rejection, and often wait for someone else to start.
Socials holds tables in Vilnius in English and in Lithuanian; what is open this week is on the Vilnius page.
On this week
Dinner with 4 to 6 strangers, this week
We choose the group, book the table and tell you where the day before. No profiles. Everyone pays their own bill.
Questions people ask
What can I do in Vilnius alone in the evening?
Walk the Old Town, take the evening free tour if your timing fits, and sit in Užupis at Špunka or another pub. For company, try the English board games on Saturday afternoons, a pub quiz, or a table of strangers booked the day before.
Do people speak English in Vilnius?
Enough for an evening. The FreeTour.com walk and the board-games group run in English, so do the expat groups on Facebook and Meetup, and Socials holds tables in English here. The daily 11:00 free tour is listed in Lithuanian, so check before you join.
What do I do in Vilnius when it rains?
The Saturday board games at Rikis are indoors, so is a pub quiz, and a table of strangers is a booked seat in a warm room. The free tours are walking tours and go ahead in most weather, so dress for it. The Old Town is compact.
